Beautiful remodel in Madera, California. The original layout of the main living space was very disjointed and did not work well for the home owners. After finally being fed up and not happy in their own home, the home owners reached out to Home. Designs interior designer Clarissa Rigby. After interviewing the home owners and seeing the space, Clarissa wanted to create an open floor plan that would cater to the busy life style of the home owners. She took inspiration from other elements in the home, as well as natural and rustic components. Taking into consideration the home owners love for farmhouse design, Clarissa imagined a space that was modern and classic, yet had the farmhouse charm they were looking for. Home. Designs partnered with Champ Construction, inc. out of Clovis, Ca to make this dream a reality.

The space was very closed off and disjointed. Our clients had a hard time figuring out the best placement for furniture in the dining and living room. The fireplace wall was covered in huge river rock from floor to ceiling. A wet bar was also in the corner of this space initially but the home owner tore it out. The flooring was oddly laid out and was falling apart and did not reflect our clients style.

One of the biggest challenges was removing the wall between the kitchen and living space. Before it was closed off and hard to entertain guests, and now the kitchen easily flows into the adjacent living and dining spaces with ease. The new custom island makes the space feel open but balanced.

A great custom element, is the kitchen island. The accent cement tile, Alder table legs, butcher block, and custom vanity add much character and charm to the space while providing practical storage and convenience.

Home. Designs designed a custom fireplace to make the space feel more anchored and intentional.  We also flipped where the dining and living room were to make a better flow, and to give more purpose to the new fireplace design.

“The best thing about being an interior designer is being able to create a space your clients not only feel comfortable in, but that they feel loved and valued and are given permission to dream again for their home and family.” – Clarissa Rigby, Home. Designs
